When Evil Geniuses were revealed to be one of the 10 teams selected for the VCT 2023: Americas League, many were not convinced of their abilities to find success in 2023. While the team’s 2022 core of Kelden “Boostio” Pupello, Corbin “C0M” Lee, Alexander “jawgemo” Mor, and head coach Christine “potter” Chi found moderate success last year, expectations weren’t as high for this team. However, a 9th-16th place finish at VCT 2023: LOCK//IN proved that this team has so much more to offer moving forward into 2023.

Now, Evil Geniuses look towards the VCT 2023: Americas League as an opportunity to extend their dark horse run to more international VALORANT tournaments. With a bevy of competition in the Americas League, such as LOUD and NRG, the odds are still against them. However, these are the moments where the Evil Geniuses squad shines most.

In this video interview, Esports Illustrated’s Sage Datuin speaks to Evil Geniuses in-game leader Boostio to talk about the team’s performance at VCT 2023: LOCK//IN, what they have been working on since their 2023 debut, and how he has adjusted his in-game leading style with two veterans on the team.
