Overwatch 2 Season 9 Trailer Shows Off Moira Mythic Skin, Ranked Changes, Cowboy Bebop Collab
There is a lot in store for Overwatch 2 players in Season 9. The latest trailer has revealed competitive changes, a new Mythic skin, and an anime collaboration. Here is what to expect in Overwatch 2 Season 9.
Competitive Changes in Overwatch 2 Season 9
Overwatch 2 Season 9 will release February 13, 2024.
Season 9 is called Champions due to some big changes to competitive play, including a new top rank called Champion. This is now the rank above Grandmaster, which used to be the highest rank.
Season 9 will have a full rank reset for all players but you'll be able to track your ranked progress much easier going forward. Grind to Champion while seeing how every match impacts your level.
Grinding certain heroes will also earn you Jade weapon cosmetics.

Ancient Caller Moira Is the Next Mythic Skin
Season 9 has a new Mythic skin, a rare and customizable skin available in the battle pass. In the teaser trailer for Season 9, you get a glimpse of some of the customizable options, including a variety of helmet shapes and multiple sickly colors to select from. Her orb also appears to be a blinking eye, which goes along with the theme of the new limited-time game mode centering around Moira's backstory.

On top of a Moira Mythic skin, there are also some ghoulish battle pass skins to check out in Season 9. This includes Torbjorn and his turret taking on a slimy cephalopod look and Bastion transforming into instant cups of noodles. The featured shop skin is for Lifeweaver, giving him a bunch of mythical glowing elements and eyeballs.
Cosmic Crisis Is a LTM In Overwatch 2 Season 9
This co-op mode centers around Moira's backstory, with her being ordered to prioritize healing her team rather than her cosmic experiments in an attempt to solve a cosmic crisis. It essentially seems like some unknown entity has taken over the Antarctic Peninsula.
There are a bunch of eerie elements, like a giant green Kraken-like mouth in the ground and a haunting voice warning you that Moira has descended into darkness.
Overwatch 2 x Cowboy Bebop Collaboration Teased
At the end of the trailer, there's a super quick snippet of what appears to be a teaser at an upcoming collaboration with Cowboy Bebop. Cassidy walks into a western town bar, the spurs on his boots jingling, and turns on the jukebox. It plays Cowboy Bebop's opening music.
Right now it's unclear what the collaboration will include, whether that's skins, a game mode, or any other content.

The collaboration is said to be coming "midseason" on the Season 9 timeline. This timeline also shows limited-time Valentine's Day content and Los Muertos weapon skins.
