With the excitement of the official Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 release date ramping up, more information on what's to come in the new video game is being released. With some hefty criticism following the Modern Warfare 2 (2022) title, there is much to be eager about for MW3.

Here is everything you need to know for the next CoD Title:

Modern Warfare 2 (2009) Remastered Maps

Call of Duty is bringing back maps from one of the most nostalgic titles they've released. All 16 MW3 2009 maps have been confirmed for MW3. Here is a list of each map that will be remastered for the November 10 release:

  • Highrise
  • Sub Base
  • Estate
  • Terminal
  • Wasteland
  • Afghan
  • Rust
  • Underpass
  • Invasion
  • Karachi
  • Quarry
  • Skidrow
  • Scrapyard
  • Rundown

Map voting also makes a reappearance. In MW 2019, this feature was removed for the first time and then was brought back for Black Ops: Cold War, but didn't last long as the next title, Call of Duty: Vanguard, again removed map voting. But after two straight titles, players in the lobby will be able to vote on one of two maps to play on for that match for MW3.

Perks

Instead of the standard four perks that players have become accustomed to using, perks will be treated as gear for your operator. There will be a helmet, vest, gloves, and boots that will offer different types of perks that you can choose from.

It hasn't been confirmed exactly what the perks will be or what category they'll be in, but we do know that the ninja perk will be returning. This is essentially dead silence like MW2 2022 had, but instead of it being a field upgrade that you have to wait for throughout the match, you will be able to start and end the game as stealthy as ever.

Another perk that has been confirmed is the stalker perk. For those that like to play aggressively, they will appreciate this addition to MW3. The stalker perk allows you to move normally, even when aiming down site (ADS), without receiving a movement penalty.

MW2 to MW3 Carry Forward

Call of Duty confirmed that the majority of items from MW2 will be available to players in MW3. If you unlocked anything for weapons in MW2 that are in MW3, they will be available immediately. This also goes for operator skins. As long as it is in MW3 and players unlocked it in MW2, they will be available upon release.

A couple of items will not be available, however. Wartracks and specific vehicles for Warzone will not be available in MW3. It's fair to say that if any content from MW2 is in MW3, players will have it for the new game.

Mechanics

The beloved slide canceling will be making its return in MW3. The movement, or lack thereof, in MW2, was a major controversial change. Slide canceling allowed players to quickly stop their movement or jump mid-slide, making for a tough target for the enemy. Most will appreciate the return of this mechanic.

Another mechanic that's making a return in MW3 is reload canceling. We've all been caught mid-reloading with an enemy challenging from around the corner and getting caught because you can't stop reloading. That all changes when MW3 releases.

  • Reload Canceling

Zombies

Zombies will be making its first appearance in the Modern Warfare titles. Developers have been using a text messaging system to confirm leaks. If you text Zombies, recipients received an audio file that distinctively had zombie noises, confirming there would be an Outbreak Zombie mode by Treyarch.

Added Health

Something that was often discussed throughout MW2 2022 was the time-to-kill (TTK). Oftentimes players were getting shot without the ability to react, reposition, and take on a gunfight. MW3 will go from 100 HP, which was in the last four titles, to 150 HP, giving players more time to adjust mid-fight.

Classic Minimap

One thing many Call of Duty pros have asked for was the return of red dots on the minimap. Red dots allow you to see an enemy ping on the map when a shot is fired (without a silencer). Instead of using what you can see and hear in the game, players can glance at the minimap and see where enemy fire is taking place. This has been confirmed for MW3.
