NHL 24 World Championship — How to Watch, Schedule, More
NHL 24 releases worldwide on October 6, and there are plenty of new features for competitive players to consider while hitting the ice for the first time. The new exhaust system fundamentally changes how players attempt to score and forecheck. Attacking teams receive boosts for prolonged attacks while defending teams are prone to more errors when fatigue builds up.
And if that wasn’t enough of a new challenge, the talent pool is about to get much bigger. For the first time in NHL 24, players can go up against users on other platforms in Ultimate Team and World of CHEL, thanks to cross-play. Lastly, EA listened to the community, and players will receive a penalty if they hold the puck for over three minutes.
It will take the top NHL players to acclimate to the game’s new meta. But thankfully, they still have plenty of time before the NHL 24 World Championship begins.
NHL 24 World Championship explained
As in years past, There will again be in-person or online esports tournaments for each of the 32 NHL Clubs, with both the Club Champion and. The Club runner-up automatically qualifies for the NHL 24 North American Championship knockout round, where they will receive a higher seeding than Online Open qualifiers.
In addition to qualifying during the traditional Online Open Play phase, the European side of the tournament will comprise two Open Play events – New Years Tournament and EU Chel Challenge – where both the winner and runner-up for each console will automatically advance to Bracket Play with a higher seed standing.
From there, participants will compete as part of in-person events for the North American Championship, European Championship, and World Final.
NHL 24 World Championship Dates
The NHL 24 World Championship doesn’t officially start until January 2024.
The North American tournament will feature an in-person NHL 24 WC qualifying event at the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend in Toronto, Canada, from February 1-4. The top four players from this event will win top-seed positions for the NHL 24 North American Console Finals phase.
This season’s 2024 Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series™ esports event will not be an NHL24 WC qualifier. The Club Championship winner from the New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers, and New Jersey Devils will compete in a mini-tournament live during the weekend to determine the Stadium Series Champion, who will not only take home bragging rights but also a cool outdoor hockey experience and commemorative trophy.
How to Compete in NHL 24 World Championship
EA SPORTS did not reveal official details on how to register but did confirm that registration opens in December 2023. We will provide an update when the devs open up registration.
