Baldur's Gate 3 World Record Speed Run Is Now Just 10 Minutes

Players have already found a way to beat the massive Baldur's Gate 3 in just over 10 minutes

You’ve probably seen all of the guides for Baldur’s Gate 3 floating around. The Dungeons & Dragons-inspired game is massive and has taken most people upwards of 100 hours to complete thanks to its dungeons, side quests, and puzzles. But one speedrunner took just 10 minutes.

YouTuber Mae currently has the world record speedrun for Baldur’s Gate 3, finishing the highly rated party-based RPG in just 10:03.

Baldur’s Gate 3 and other RPGs are often meant to be explored heavily, with fans of the genre getting fully immersed in the expansive worlds and interacting with all of the unique characters. Completionists take pride in finishing every puzzle and side quest, making the game take even longer for most.

But speedrunners are a different breed of gamer. The niche but rapidly growing genre of gaming is focused on exploring exploits and utilizing sneaky tricks to finish games as fast as possible. While usually reserved for retro games like Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, the genre has expanded into larger games like Elden Ring and now Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to Speedrun Baldur’s Gate 3

If you want to recreate Mae’s incredible run, you will first need to select Gale as your character. Then you must continuously jump and teleport around the map with Enhanced Leap in an attempt to rapidly get to the point in the campaign where you can choose to finish the main story. Mae also used stealth in many instances in an attempt to sneak past enemies.

Oh, and skip all the cutscenes.

There are 17,000 Baldur’s Gate 3 endings. This one can be naturally stumbled across in Act 2. Some players even said in the comments that they got this ending after about 40 hours of gameplay, leading the game’s narrator to say it’s “an ending of sorts.”

Of course, Mae is taking advantage of a glitch in the game to get the ending a lot faster. It’s possible that Larian Studios may take this glitch out of the game when the first big patch arrives. If that’s the case, it will solidify Mae as the all-time fastest Baldur’s Gate 3 player of all time.

“Man finished the entire game before I even finished picking what class I'm going to play,” one gamer said.

“You beat me by about 100 hours,” another commented.

“I'm 50 hours in and still in Act 1,” read another gamer’s reaction.

But even players that didn’t want to finish the game in 10 minutes marveled at all the tricks Mae used in the speed run. Some players didn’t realize that certain things were possible, like jumping down into the Illithid Colony in the Moonrise Towers before fighting Ketheric. It showed that there are many ways to play Baldur’s Gate 3 and opened up gamers’ minds to a lot of surprising possibilities, making the game all the more intriguing for speedrunners and completionists alike
