How to Sign Up and Compete in Pokemon VGC 2024 Global Challenge III
The 2024 Global Challenge III is an official Online Competition featuring double battles. It is the tenth globally available Online Competition and the sixth Global Challenge in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. The most recent Online Competition was the 2024 Global Challenge II, played earlier in the same month, with the VGC Regulation Set F, which is the same ruleset that this tournament will be played under.
Here's how to sign up for the Global Competition as well as more information on prizing and the implications this tournament has for the rest of 2024 Pokémon VGC season.
How to Sign Up
Sign-ups for the event are done through a player's own copy of Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet. To register, enter the Poké Portal, select Battle Stadium, select Online competitions, Search for a competition, and then enter the Global Challenge III.
A heads up that players will need to have a team to register and lock in one of their Battle Boxes at the time of registration.
Sign-ups are open from 21 March at 00:00 UTC until 28 March at 23:59 UTC, when the tournament starts.
Tournament Format
The tournament is held online, in Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet game, at the Online competitions section of the Poké Portal’s Battle Stadium.
The tournament starts on 29 March 2024 at 00:00 UTC. Players will be able to play up to 15 battles on March 29th, up to 30 battles by March 30th and up to 45 battles by March 31st. Battles will be available to enter until 31 March 2024 at 23:59 UTC.
The battle rules will be the official Regulation Set F ruleset currently employed in the competitive Pokemon VGC circuit.
Prizes
TPCi regions
In North America, Europe, Latin America, Oceania, Middle East & South Africa, and Russia, this online competition rewards Championship Points (up to 160 for the winner). Only players that have configured their Online Competition settings to any of the TPCi regions are counted towards this purpose.
Japan & Korea
In Japan, the tournament is known as the 2024 Japan National Championships Qualifier #3, and the top 150 placing players qualify for the 2024 Japan National Championships. In South Korea, the top 50 placing players qualify for the 2024 Pokémon Trainers Cup.
In-Game Rewards
Even players not attempting to qualify for the Pokemon World Championships later this year can still obtain some valuable rewards just for competing. As a participation prize, any player that finishes at least three battles will receive 100,000 League Points, a Gold Bottle Cap and an Ability Patch; all incredibly useful resources for raising competitively viable Pokemon.
