Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2024 Challenges and Rewards
The Lunar New Year event is back in Overwatch 2. Here are all of the event rewards and how to get them.
Overwatch has come under fire over the past few years for repeating events instead of providing players with new content. One of those repeating events is the Lunar New Year celebration. But developers have revamped it with new rewards and skins that will have players celebrating.
The Lunar New Year event in Overwatch 2 will last from January 30 to February 20. During that time, you can play limited-time Lunar New Year game modes to earn rewards and claim a free Year of the Dragon player icon.

Welcome to the Year of the Dragon!
There are 12 Lunar New Year event challenges to complete this time around. When you complete them, you'll earn some exclusive dragon-themed rewards. Here are the challenges, which include the return of the prop hunt game mode known as Mischief and Magic:
- The Emperor of Mischief - Complete 8 Year of the Dragon event challenges - 20,000 Battle Pass XP and Year of the Dragon name card
- Prosperous Mischief - Complete 6 games of Mischief and Magic. Wins grant double progress - 5,000 Battle Pass XP and Year of the Dragon spray
- Hungry Dragon - Earn 10 eliminations as Knight Genji in Mischief and Magic - 5,000 Battle Pass XP and Dragon Dance spray
- Magical Dragon - Earn 100 eliminations as Knight Genji in Mischief and Magic - Magical Dragon title
- Lucky Fox - Survive for 300 seconds as Rogue Kiriko in Mischief and Magic - 5,000 Battle Pass XP and Dragon Dance spray
- Mischievous Fox - Survive for 3,000 seconds as Rogue Kiriko in Mischief and Magic - Mischievous Fox title
- Fortuitous Dragon Blade - Earn 1 elimination with Dragon Blade as Knight Genji in Mischief and Magic - Dragon Dance spray and Kiriko voice line
- Firework Show - Stun 6 enemies with Flashbang as Rogue Kiriko in Mischief and Magic - Dragon Dance spray and Sojourn voice line
- New Year - Complete 10 games. Wins grant double progress - 5,000 Battle Pass XP and Mei voice line
- Lucky Year - Complete 20 games. Wins grant double progress - 5,000 Battle Pass XP and Dragon Dance spray
- Prosperous Year - Complete 30 games. Wins grant double progress - 5,000 Battle Pass XP and Dragon Dance spray
- Transcendent Year - Complete 40 games. Wins grant double progress - Dragon Dance spray and Mauga voice line
These challenges have been met with a bit of backlash from the Overwatch 2 community. Some gamers feel that any challenge that focuses on winning games will just make players try-hard and sweaty, creating a stressful experience. Others find the rewards themselves to be "trash."
Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year Twitch Drops
If you want even more free rewards, however, you can head over to Twitch.
These Twitch Drops will last for the next two weeks so be sure to tune into your favorite Overwatch 2 streamer that has Twitch Drops active to earn the following rewards.
For every two hours watched, you can skip a tier of the current battle pass. This makes it easier to grind the battle pass and reach the rewards that are at higher levels. There are five rewards in total.
Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year Skins
Grinding the battle pass or don't mind spending some cash? You can find Lunar New Year skins in the in-game shop starting on February 6. This includes Dragonfire Bastion, Turtleship D.Va, and Mystic Swan Mercy.
