Nintendo Switch 2 Rumors Grow — Is The Console Coming in 2024?
Nintendo fans have been anxiously awaiting the inevitable release of the new Nintendo console. There have been rumors and leaks, but nothing concrete. Now, it seems there’s been an accidental leak that points to the Nintendo Switch 2 coming sooner than expected.
AI Shark — formerly known as GameShark — recently shared a press release announcing the revival of the GameShark brand. The release may have accidentally said too much, however. According to Digital Trends, AI Shark stated that the GameShark brand was coming back in September 2024 “to coincide with the Nintendo Switch 2.”
GameShark was a brand known for making cheat code devices but has rebranded itself as an AI-focused software that helps players improve their gameplay. Its target audience is casual gamers, the press release said, not competitors looking for cheating tools. The resurgence is interesting but it’s clear that the bigger news is the mention of the Nintendo Switch 2 release.
Is the Nintendo Switch 2 Coming Out in 2024?

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been discussed in leaks and rumors for a while now but this is the first time an official source has mentioned it. Nintendo hasn’t revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 just yet, but it’s possible that AI Shark has some insight.
It’s possible that the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out in September of 2024, but it’s still not confirmed.
Right now, we also don’t know if it will be called the Nintendo Switch 2 or if it will be branded completely differently. We also are not sure what the new components, specs, and features will be.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was rumored to be available as a demo to partners at GamesCom in 2023 (but behind closed doors). Nintendo also spoke with Activision about a new Switch in the later half of 2022. So the Nintendo Switch 2 is definitely coming but the release date is nothing more than a rumor right now — although a promising one this time. Was AI Shark just making assumptions? Or was it an accidental reveal?
Is a New Smash Game Coming to the Nintendo Switch 2?
Most likely.
Nintendo has not confirmed the new console nor Smash 6, but there’s been a lot of solid hints leading the community to believe a new Smash game is coming. And if Nintendo’s new console is coming sooner than expected, that means the new Smash game may be coming sooner than we thought as well.
Maybe 2025?
Masahiro Sakurai announced it himself that a new Smash game is definitely a possibility. Then some eagle-eyed gamers spotted new job listings that pointed at Nintendo putting together a team focused on a Smash game.
We’ll have to wait and see.
