Lionel Messi Joins KRÜ Esports as Co-Owner
KRÜ Esports was founded in late 2020 by former Argentina, FC Barcelona and Manchester City Soccer player, Sergio Aguero. Since, they have had teams compete in major esports such as Valorant and Rocket League. With such a big name behind the wheel, it’s no surprise that another has made its way to the team.
One of Aguero’s former teammates, and one of the best players to ever step foot on a Soccer pitch, Lionel Messi, has joined KRÜ Esports as a co-owner
Aguero began streaming during the COVID lockdowns in 2019, and ever since then his love for esports has grown. After creating KRÜ Esports in late 2020, the organisation has only kept growing, and the introduction of Lionel Messi to the team will only further that.
"I'm happy to share a club with Leo, of course now in a new stage and with other challenges. It's an honour to have him as a part of KRÜ. He's the best footballer in history, and he's also a great friend. He is a figure who inspires everyone and will be a great addition to the scene as a whole," said Sergio Kun Aguero, CEO of KRÜ Esports and former professional soccer player.
Rumours had been spreading around the community that Aguero would step down as the owner of KRÜ Esports. However, many fans were happy to hear in this announcement that the rumours were false. Instead, he becomes co-owner, and the esports community is reacting extremely positively. Many fans are excited to see where this announcement can take esports, and more specifically KRÜ Esports as they look to become the biggest team in South America.
With Messi’s arrival in the MLS taking more eyes than ever to Soccer in America, hopefully his arrival in esports will do the same.
