Helldivers 2 Patch February 20, Are Servers Fixed?

Players have been having issues with ship loading screens and crashes in Helldivers 2, but Patch 01.000.008 should fix most of those issues.

Helldivers 2 Patch 01.000.008, February 20, Fixes, Stability Increase and More

  • Helldivers 2 released Patch 01.000.008 on February 20th to fix several stability issues with the game.
  • The Patch claims to have resolved crashing issues, improved matchmaking and optimized the servers.
  • While several changes should improve the player experience, there are still some known issues that may cause instability while matchmaking is in progress.

Helldivers 2 has been enjoying its time in the spotlight this month as players continue to flock to the game to defend Super Earth and Democracy in the universe. While Helldivers 2 has been seeing a huge influx of players and positive reviews, it is not without its issues as well. The overnight hit has been plagued with all kinds of stability and matchmaking issues. Players are running into messages like ‘failed to establish connection’ or getting stuck on the ship loading screen. But Helldivers 2 Patch 01.000.008 should fix that and make it a bit easier for most players to get into a game.

Helldivers 2 Fixes Crashing

The majority of this patch is all dedicated toward improving the stability of Helldivers 2. According to the patch notes the major areas of focus included resolving crashes, improving matchmaking functionality, optimizing the servers and Defend event updates.

One of the things the Helldivers 2 developers had to do to help keep servers stable was cap the number of players at 450,000 as a temporary measure. With the changes introduced in the February 20th patch, a lot of stuff has been fixed and should allow players to move past ship loading screens.

The full fixes and optimizations included in the patch notes are as follows,

  • Playfab optimization.
    • Playfab environment optimized - All lobbies now have proper data to run more effective matchmaking.
  • Filtering optimization.
    • We are optimizing the filter system when players are searching for lobbies, so that it excludes already full lobbies.
  • Stability and crashes.
    • We have fixed three of our top crashes in the game, including particle renderer crashes and ragdoll crashes.
    • Fixed an issue where the application prioritized integrated graphics over some GPU in laptops.
  • Defend Events and Major Orders.
    • For readability purposes, we added a visual progression indicator to major order defend events.

But not everything is going to be perfect for everyone and the patch notes also admit that while these changes will improve things for most players, some new issues may also have been introduced in the patch or are still being worked on. So players may continue to experience some instability while matchmaking.
