Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn Announced — New Cards Revealed, New Game Ability
Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn was rumored for a few days and now Ravensburger has confirmed that this set will be dipping into the floodborn glimmers, “Disney characters who were transformed by a mysterious flood of ink.”
According to a press release from Ravensburger, Illumnineers and glimmers will journey beyond the Great Illuminary after it was “damaged in a flood of magical ink.” The six ink types created a “chaotic form” when they blended together. When storyborn or dreamborn glimmers encountered this chaotic form, it transformed them into floobdorn glimmers. It also started to impact “treasured lore” as well, including King Triton’s trident.
Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn will include over 200 new cards with all-new artwork. It will also dive deeper into other Disney movies and shows that were not featured in The First Chapter. This includes:
- Winnie the Pooh
- Princess and the Frog
- The Jungle Book
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- The Great Mouse Detective
- Pinocchio
- Zootopia
- Raya and the Last Dragon
Rise of the Floodborn will also have a new game ability called Resist. This keyword indicates “how much additional damage characters may be able to withstand,” according to a press release. For example, if a character has Resist +2 it means any damage dealt to them is reduced by 2.
"The response to the release of the Disney Lorcana TCG has been astounding. The game has only been available for about a month, and fans are already eager for more,” said Filip Francke, Global Head of Games at Ravensburger. “As we work diligently behind the scenes to meet current demand, we’re also planning incredible updates and new sets for years to come that we can’t wait to share. We’re excited to reveal a little more about what is coming this holiday to expand the game and story for this year.”

Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn is getting an early release to local game stores on November 17, 2023. It will reach the mass market retailers on December 1, 2023. The set will include:
