FlyQuest Spica on loss to Golden Guardians in LCS 2023 Spring Finals Weekend

FlyQuest jungler Spica touches upon the team's 3-2 loss to the Golden Guardians in the LCS 2023 Spring Split finals.

For the first few weeks of the LCS 2023 Spring Split regular season, all eyes were on FlyQuest as the frontrunner to win the entire split. FlyQuest began their LCS 2023 Spring Split campaign with a 9-0 start as they maintained a stronghold over the rest of the competition. However, since then, the team went on a slow downward trend after that point.

Regardless, FlyQuest’s natural talents for the game were able to help them still qualify for the LCS 2023 Spring Split Finals Weekend, where they were slated as the favorites to meet Cloud9 in the Grand Final. At first, it looked as if FlyQuest’s narrative as the favorite in the series would eventually shut down the Cinderella run of the Golden Guardians. In game four, FlyQuest had Golden Guardians on the rails and were inches away from meeting Cloud9 in the grand final. Unfortunately, that LCS 2023 Spring Split rematch was not meant to be as Golden Guardians dashed FlyQuest’s hopes of their first LCS title.

In this interview, Esports Illustrated’s Sage Datuin spoke to FlyQuest jungler Mingyi “Spica” Lu about the Golden Guardians game, the team’s troubles with confidence, and how they can improve moving forward.
