Who would win in a battle between a king and a prince? That is the question that every LCS fan was waiting to find out in today’s matchup between 100 Thieves’ Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and FlyQuest’s Lee "Prince" Chae-hwan.

It was the matchup everybody had been waiting for in week three of the LCS 2023 Spring Split as the 4-1 100 Thieves sought to hand the undefeated FlyQuest their first loss of the 2023 season. Prior to today’s matchup between two of the LCS’s hottest teams, both teams entered the series on win streaks of their own.

For 100 Thieves, their season started with a devastating opening loss to Cloud9 due to a Zeri support pick in draft. Yet every other game has been a dominant snowball finish, mostly due to botlaner Doublelift’s meteoric return to the LCS stage.

Meanwhile, FlyQuest has been flawless. Their individual mechanics have painted them as the team to beat in the LCS while Prince has stood out as the frontrunner for split MVP.

As both teams entered the server, it was apparent that this would be a battle between the botlaners as both teams threw AD carry bans at one another before landing Xayah on the side of 100 Thieves and Kai’sa for FlyQuest. Immediately, it was FlyQuest who were the aggressors as the botlane duo of Prince and Kim “Winsome” Dong-keon grabbed first blood, though it was quickly answered by 100 Thieves top laner Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij.

Both teams battled back and forth at each available objective as each team traded one for one throughout the early game until a fight in the bottom lane led by Prince helped give FlyQuest the tempo advantage.

While FlyQuest’s Prince was nearly unstoppable, 100 Thieves rookie top laner Tenacity continued to be 100 Thieves’ one win condition as he continued to try and keep the game close. Unfortunately, the comeback was not meant to be as FlyQuest made their final winning push to extend their record to 6-0, capping off a stellar 11/1/9 performance for Prince’s Kai’sa.

After today’s win, FlyQuest will enter week four of the LCS 2023 Spring Split looking to go 9-0 at the halfway point in the regular season. They will take on Immortals, TSM, and CLG as the frontrunners look to continue their reign of terror over the rest of the LCS.
