Your Guide to Winterburg In Fortnite — Meet Sgt. Winter
Where is Winterburg?
Winterburg is a new location on the Fortnite map that can be hard to find at first. It does not appear on the map until you queue into a game.
Once you’re in a match, you’ll be able to find Winterburg at the furthest north spot of the map. You know, like North Pole. Get it? Winterburg appears as an island that’s separated from the mainland, a snowy little patch of land.

So is it worth landing on Winterburg? Depends. Are you in the Christmas spirit?
Winterburg is where you’ll find Sgt. Winter, Fortnite’s version of Santa Claus. He’s a friendly boss that’s only around during Winterfest so you’ll want to pay him a visit if you want to make a Christmas wish or just see Santa in the flesh — the muscular, tattooed flesh.
Sgt. Winter will give you one free present but it’s a bit random. It’s usually Epic or Legendary weapons but you can also get coal. You will hear him let out a short bellow, then he will drop the gift and be on his way. He won’t attack you unless you attack him first. But would you really attack Santa? Weirdo.
Aside from meeting Sgt. Winter, Winterburg also has houses to explore and some chests to open. So it’s worth visiting it at least once while you have the chance.
Complete the Winterfest Quest With Sgt. Winter
One of Winterfest’s quests requires you to head to Winterburg and get a gift from Sgt. Winter. To complete this quest, all you need to do is float down to the island once you drop, find Sgt. Winter patrolling Winterburg and approach him.
When Sgt. Winter sees you, he will rhetorically ask you if you’ve been naughty or nice. Once he knows you’re there, he will give you a giant present. The massive present can be opened by damaging it. Like you do. When it opens, walk inside and collect your gift.
What Else Should You Do During Winterfest?
Fortnite’s Winterfest goes beyond the small island of Winterburg.The biggest part of Winterfest are the gifts. There are 14 free gifts including outfits and other cosmetics. There are also some fun challenges to complete for Sgt. Winter.
