Who Could Guilty Gear: Strive's New Character Be?

Here's a handful of possibilities for the latest entry into ArcSys' masterful fighter. We take a look at who the next character could be to join Guilty Gear Strive Season 3

Even in the wake of major releases from Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken, Guitly Gear: Strive remains one of the top fighting games on the market. Now in 2024, it's approaching the back end of its Season 3 DLC which saw the return of a couple of series favorites in Elphelt Valentine and Johnny. 

But in a stream last month, Arc System Works gave a teaser to the next character to come to Strive. Based on the scant pieces of information here are some ideas as to who the next character could be. 

Venom

This Assassin companion of Zato-1 and Millia Rage made a cameo in the ending of Strive and the silhouette looks like it favors his typical design. This billiards aficionado was know in previous games for his setplay and trap mechanics, a playstyle that's not that well represented in Strive yet.

Zappa

Zappa is a character that we haven't heard from since the end of XX way back in 2017. Zappa is a wild character, he's possessed by not one but two spirits and has one of the most disturbing idle stances in fighting games. and could summon a litany of ghosts, weapons and even demon animals to do his bidding. Given that Zappa wears earrings, the new character could possibly be him as well. 

A.B.A

Many of the GG faithful would love to see A.B.A. return. Like Zappa she missed inclusion in Xrd so we haven't had her in a game for a while. A.B.A. is an artificial life form with incredible regenerative powers and a massive living key as a weapon. Because she's so durable, in gameplay she often uses her own blood to empower her self or her attacks. She's more of a longshot but she's still a fan favorite.

Jam Kuradoberi

While the image may not look like Jam, that doesn't me she couldn't see a redesign. But more than that she's another fan favorite (along with Slayer as well) that's yet to see inclusion into Strive. Jam was one of the rushdown monsters of Xrd, she's excelled with quick close range buttons and a parry that could stifle counters against her.

Someone completely new!

Season 1 of Strive introduced us to Happy Chaos and Goldlewis Dickenson. While Season 2 opted gave us "That Man" Auska and Bedman? (Delilah). So far Season 3 hasn't provided a new or reimagined character. So perhaps there's a new beast on the horizon.

Arc System Works says that the reveal will come at the Arc World Tour Finals taking place on March 21-23 in Long Beach, CA. A weekend of events culminating in the yearly grand final for Strive.
