Cloud9 Sign Cuddle_Core And YUYU As Org's First Tekken Players
Cloud9 has officially expanded its fighting game roster by signing its first pair of Tekken 7 players in the organization’s history by picking up Jeannail "Cuddle_Core" Carter and YUYU.
Prior to Cloud9, YUYU was competing under fighting game-focused organization UYU's banner from May 2018 to Sept. 2022. After nearly a year of competing without an organization, YUYU now becomes the first Japanese esports player competing under the Cloud9 banner.
“I’m really surprised I was able to become to first Japanese pro gamer with Cloud9,” YUYU said in the official Twitter announcement. “I’ll do my best to put on a good show for everybody.”
Cloud9’s second Tekken roster addition, Cuddle_Core, is also a household name in the Tekken community and has competed under InTheSkies, Equinox Gaming, and most recently Counter Logic Gaming. Throughout her time competing in Tekken 7, Cuddle_Core has acquired a number of impressive placements, with her most impressive win being the Texas Showdown back in late April.
Now, she joins Cloud9 as part of the organization’s push into the fighting game community as they set their sights on establishing a firmer base in this sector of gaming.
“To represent Cloud9 for Tekken 7 is groundbreaking,” Cuddle_Core said in the announcement video.
The roster announcement comes at a handy time in the competitive Tekken 7 timeline where both players are set to compete at Evo 2023 taking place from August 4-6. Evo 2023 will mark a nearly 9-month hiatus from competition for YUYU while Cuddle_Core will be looking to improve upon her Top 16 finish at Evo 2019.
