Brawlhalla is a free-to-play platform fighter with a massive roster of Legends from its own unique universe as well as a host of characters from pop culture. In addition to a vibrant, well-funded tournament scene, the game also offers a deep and engaging ranked system that allows players to prove their skill against millions of other players.

Placements

As Brawlhalla’s 28th ranked season comes to a close on July 19th, the season reset presents an opportunity for players new and old to start their climb to the top of the ranked leaderboard.

Everyone is required to complete 10 placement games at the start of the season. Depending on the amount of games won new players will typically place within the bronze to silver ranks, where experienced players will have their previous seasons rank taken into account after their placements are complete.

Side note! If you want to know how to turn off gadgets (items) in Brawlhalla’s ranked mode, go to the settings menu on the character select screen after you’ve completed your 10 placement games. From there you can choose to ban gadgets, turn on tournament legal stages, as well as ban 1 stage of your choosing.

Elo and Ranks

Brawlhalla uses the Elo system, meaning that each player will be assigned a numerical rating. This rating will increase or decrease based on the rating of the opponent you face, so if you beat a strong opponent, you’ll see a larger increase in Elo compared to beating someone ranked lower than you.

The ranked system is somewhat generous, players advance to the 1st division of the next rank upon promoting, with a division 0 as a buffer to prevent players from getting stuck. You’ll gain or lose an average of 15 points for each of your games, so with that in mind, here are all of the Brawlhalla ranked brackets.

Valhallan

Valhallan rank in Brawlhalla
  • To get Valhallan rank in Brawlhalla, you need to meet specific requirements. You need to be one of the highest-rated players in your region, win 100+ matches, and also be in Diamond.

Rewards

After the season is over, players receive rewards based on the rank they achieved. Players who reach gold, platinum, or diamond at ANY point during the season are awarded a ranked border that other players will see as the match loads in. Players who reach the above ranks at the END of the season receive an avatar depending on their final placing. If you reached this rank during a previous season, your avatar will be upgraded.

Anyone who plays 10 ranked games or more will receive an avatar, but only those who reach Valhallan get access to the legendary Valhallan avatar. This avatar is unique in that it has two different states depending on if the player maintains their Valhallan rank.

If a player ranks down, it will transform into the “fallen” state, incentivising players to stay on the grind. Similarly, the Valhallan loading frame can only be used by those who are currently at the Valhallan rank. Not to worry though, anyone who reaches the Valhallan rank will get a permanent title that will stay with them even if they are demoted.

It doesn’t stop there! Depending on the rank you finish, players will receive increasing amounts of Glory. Glory is the only way of purchasing skyforged skins, which are available to any Legend level 5 and above. Purchasing a skyforged skin lets you double down and unlock a goldforged skin for your absolute favorite Legends. Unique weapon skins, trophies, sidekicks, and emotes can all be purchased with glory. After making it through a grueling ranked season, you’ve earned it.
