- Kali Scales has been avid gamer and fan of the space since she was handed a Gameboy at four years old. In her teenage years, she found a love for podcasting around the MMO Final Fantasy XI.
- Kali is a graduate of Specs Howard School for Broadcasting, where she received certification in Digital Media Production. She also attended the University of Michigan, studying video game design.
- In 2013, she helped revive and cohosted the popular Final Fantasy XIV podcast 'Limit Break Radio.' In 2017, she helped design and cohosted Checkpoint Radio, the first terrestrial radio show focused on esports and gaming. The show went on to be syndicated in 70 markets across North America before she left the company in 2021. During her time there, she honed her journalism skills covering League of Legends.
- Today, Kali is a writer, streamer, and tabletop enthusiast. She brings over 16 years of experience to the world of gaming and entertainment.
- In addition to her work as a writer for Esports Illustrated, she enjoys writing fiction in her spare time and playing Dungeons & Dragons and other tabletop RPGs.
- An openly transgender woman herself, she is loudly supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community and enjoys supporting charitable events for it.
