RamBeau Leaves Sentinels, Retires from Competitive Apex Legends
On March 28th, Beau "RamBeau" Sheidy announced in a Twit Longer post on Twitter that he was retiring from competitive Apex Legends. This decision comes only three weeks after the Apex Legends Global Series kicked off, marking the halfway point before the next LAN in Paris for the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs.
RamBeau’s Retirement from Competitive Apex Legends
RamBeau had only just joined the Sentinels earlier this month on March 10th as the ALGS Pro League began. Their performances so far through the Pro League have left something to be desired. As of RamBeau’s departure, they sat at 17 overall out of 30. They placed 19th on the first day of the Pro League, showing considerable improvement on day 2 with a 7th place finish that included a top three and a 1st place win. Day 4 and day 5 ended with more middling results at 9th and 13th.
In his Twit Longer post, RamBeau states that his love for competitive Apex Legends has wavered and wasn’t where it used to be. He also cites unfortunate family matters over the last half year as well, saying it’s time he’s helped out more with those and pursued other opportunities. RamBeau does mention he plans to keep streaming every now and then and is still proud he was able to compete with so many others at the highest level in Apex Legends.
Through his three years of Professional Apex Legends RamBeau has played for organizations such as The Guard, Torrent, Sentinels and Flash Point.
He’s not the only Apex Legends professional to retire recently. Ira "dooplex" Shepherd recently left Optic Gaming but was just announced as joining LANimals in the ALGs as a coach. Similarly, Will "TeQ" Starck played for FURIA Esports before joining Sentinels as a coach and then returning to play for the Sentinels as well.
RamBeau’s Replacement
As RamBeau leaves the Sentinels in the midst of the Apex Legends Pro League Split 2, he’s not leaving his teammates Cole "Rkn" Prommel and Keon "Keon" Berghout high and dry. According to a Twitter post by Rkn, the Sentinels may have already found a replacement for RamBeau.
Rkn mentions that their first day of scrims with Aceu went great. Brandon "aceu" Winn is a content creator for Sentinels, a well known streamer. He made a name for himself in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and is among some of the top players in Apex Legends. Aceu himself has joked that he’s the older half-brother to iiTzTimmy, who has also recently returned to competitive professional Apex Legends.
Aceu has been playing professional Apex since its launch in 2019, where he played for NRG. However, most of his tournament credits have been for TwitchCon events.
As another Sentinel’s content creator, Aceu would likely fit in very well with Rkn and Keon. They’re definitely behind the ball in comparison to other teams who have been playing together much longer. But losing RamBeau doesn’t lose them much time since all three of them came together in early March under the Sentinel’s banner for the ALGS.
They have a long way to go and a big boost in performance if they want to make it into the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs. Rkn mentions on Twitter that despite their lackluster performance so far, that the fans' reception to the team has still been positive. It’s possible that, depending on how other players perform in scrims with Sentinels over the next few weeks, we could see another player become the third for the Sentinels squad.
